DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE APPLICATIONS
In order to apply for permanent resident status in Canada, or to sponsor a family member for permanent residence, you will need to compile the following documentation:

1.   Identify documents for you and your family members (whether they are
      accompanying you to Canada or not) including passports, birth certificates,
      family registry documents, civil registry documents, identity cards, marriage
      certificates, divorce certificates, military cards, etc.

2.   College or University diplomas, certificates, transcripts

3.   Letters of employment indicating the date you started working, your position,
      and your responsibilities

4.   Proof of available funds to support yourself in Canada, by way of a bank
      statement

5.   Proof of your language skills

6.   Offer of employment from a Canadian employer (if you have one)

7.   If you have family in Canada, a copy of their Canadian citizenship or permanent
      resident card and proof of your relationship to them by way of a birth certificate
      and/or marriage certificate

We will advise you at your appointment if there are any additional documents that you will need to obtain for your application.

You will also be required to obtain a criminal clearance certificate or police records search from any country you have lived in for more than six (6) months during the last ten (10) years (since you have been 18 years of age). These clearance certificates are only valid for 12 months. Please wait for instructions from Citizenship and Immigration Canada before obtaining these clearances.

You will also be required to undergo an immigration medical examination prior to receiving permanent residence in Canada. You must choose one of Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Designated Medical Practitioners (DMP). Please wait for instructions from Citizenship and Immigration Canada before undergoing your medical examination.
